Choose a Cosy Setting for your party
Your party doesn’t need to be fancy—it just needs to feel inviting. A living room with ambient lighting, soft music, and enough seating for guests to relax and chat works perfectly. Use candles or fairy lights for a warm, intimate glow.
Once you’ve picked you venue, and a date that suits send out some invitations, either digitally or on paper, here’s some I like:

Here is an invite for a ‘Wine and Cheese’ party. Is that different to a ‘Cheese and Wine’ party, discuss.
Build Your Cheese Board Like a Pro - wine and cheese pairings
Aim for a variety of textures and flavors:
Soft: Brie, Camembert, or goat cheese
Hard: Aged cheddar, Manchego, or Comté
Blue: Gorgonzola or Roquefort
Washed rind or funkier options for the adventurous (Taleggio or Époisses)
Wine Pairing Basics
Offer three to four wines for variety:
White: Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay
Red: Pinot Noir or Malbec
Sparkling: Prosecco or Champagne
Optional: A dessert wine like Port or a bold Cabernet
Create small tent cards or a printable tasting sheet with notes on each pairing.
If you fancied you could choose a theme for your wine and cheese party, such as a certain country. EG French wines with French Cheeses.
Or for a wider variety (much easier!!!) you could research wine and cheese pairings to create a harmonious tasting experience.
Here are some common pairings that you can’t go wrong with:
- Red wine with aged cheddar.
- White wine with brie or camembert.
- Sauvignon Blanc with goat cheese.
- Cabernet Sauvignon with gouda.
Also it would be good to include some non-alcoholic wine, there are loads to choose from now – However if I were you, check them out before hand – whereas non alcoholic beers are quite nice, some of the non alcoholic wines taste like something my cat did.

These are 2″ circles to mark your cheese for a wine and cheese party, you will need to buy a 2″ hole punch. Punch out two of each then glue the backs together with a toothpick between them.

Battery operate tea light candles are ideal for your table centre pieces.
Tasting Notes
Yoy could create tasting notes for each wine and cheese combination, providing information about the flavors and origins. Guests can use these as reference guides.
This is great for more formal parties too. Personally I like to keep it easy going – encourage guests to graze, sip, and mingle. Serve things at room temperature and let the evening flow naturally. Most of all, enjoy it yourself—because a relaxed host sets the tone for a great night.
Getting rid of the guests
Once you want to get rid of the guests and go to bed you could send them home with mini jars of chutney, personalised wine stoppers, or a tiny wedge of cheese wrapped in wax paper. Just a little something to remember the evening by!
Wine Bingo
Everyone loves bingo, especially after a glass of wine. This downloadable one is a great game,
